Biography

Roland Devedjian, born in 1901 in Sivas and died in 1974, was a foundry engineer of Armenian origin.

He immigrated to France from Constantinople in 1919 to escape the genocide of the Armenians. He graduated from a French lycée in Constantinople, where he and his family were fluent in French. Later, after his arrival in France, he graduated from ESCP.

In 1948, he invented a cast aluminum pressure cooker with a bayonet lock, marketed under the name Cocotte-minute. His company went bankrupt and he sold it to Groupe SEB.
